How to delete pages from a PDF
- Drop one PDF onto the box above, or click it to browse.
- Type the pages you want gone into Pages to remove — single numbers, ranges, or a mix of both, for example 2, 5-7. The tool asks for an entry here before it will run.
- Press Delete Pages. Everything you did not list is copied into a fresh document, in its original order.
- The trimmed file downloads as your filename with -pages-removed added, and the status line reports how many pages were removed and how many were kept.
What people use it for
Nearly always tidying up before a document is shared, when the pages in question are noise rather than content:
- Dropping blank sheets that a duplex scanner produced from single-sided originals.
- Removing a fax cover sheet or a routing page from the front of a received document.
- Taking internal notes, pricing workings or a draft annex out of a report before it goes to a client.
- Deleting duplicate pages that were scanned twice by accident.
- Cutting the terms-and-conditions boilerplate from the back of a form before filing it.
Good to know
The page numbers use the same syntax as Split PDF: they count from 1 and refer to positions in the file, not to any number printed on the page, so a cover sheet is page 1 even when the printed numbering starts later. Numbers beyond the end of the document and anything unrecognisable are ignored; if nothing usable is left the status line tells you, along with the real page count. The tool also refuses to empty a document — if your list covers every page, it stops and asks you to keep at least one.
Kept pages come across whole, with their text still selectable and their layout untouched, though document-level features such as bookmarks, internal links and form fields may not follow into the rebuilt file. Removing pages does not renumber anything printed on the remaining ones; if the visible numbering now has gaps, Add Page Numbers can lay down a fresh sequence. The file size falls roughly in proportion to what you took out, so a scan can still be heavy afterwards.
Everything happens on your side of the connection. Your browser opens the PDF, builds the shorter version in memory and hands it back as a download, so the pages you are deleting — often the confidential ones — are never transmitted anywhere, which is not true of most delete-pages websites.
Questions people ask
Is the original file changed?
No. The PDF on your disk is only read. The trimmed version arrives as a separate download, so if you cut the wrong page you can start again from the original and redo it.
How do I find the right page numbers?
Open the PDF in your usual viewer and use the position shown in its page counter or thumbnail panel, counting from the very first sheet. That is the number this tool expects.
I want to keep only a few pages out of many — is this the right tool?
Probably not. Listing everything you want removed gets long. Split PDF works the other way round: name the pages to keep and it extracts just those.
Can I remove pages from a scanned or password-protected PDF?
Scans are no problem — the pages are copied as they are, images and all. Files with editing restrictions usually open too, but a PDF that asks for a password before it will display cannot be processed until that password is removed with Unlock PDF.
