How to convert a Word document to PDF
- Drop a .docx file onto the box above, or click it to browse. Older .doc files are not accepted — open one in Word and use Save as to make a .docx first.
- Press Convert to PDF. The document is read, its contents are laid out on A4 portrait pages with even margins, and the pages are drawn at double resolution so text and images stay sharp.

Good to know
It is worth being clear about what this is: a lightweight converter, not a copy of Word's own layout engine. Paragraphs, headings, bold and italic, bulleted and numbered lists, tables and embedded images all come through. What does not survive is precise page design. Multiple columns, text boxes, headers and footers, exact spacing, custom fonts and automatic page numbering are simplified or dropped, and the content is re-typeset in a clean serif face on A4, so line and page breaks fall in different places than they did in Word. Very wide tables are fitted to the page where they can be and may be clipped at the right edge where they cannot. For a contract or a template in which every millimetre counts, Word's own Save as PDF is the right choice; for everyday documents this is quick and perfectly presentable.
The whole conversion happens inside this browser tab. The .docx is unpacked and read on your device, the pages are drawn there too, and no copy is sent anywhere, so a confidential document stays yours alone. One consequence of the way pages are drawn is that the text in the finished PDF is an image of text rather than selectable characters — it cannot be searched, copied, or fed back through PDF to Word. Questions people ask
Why is my .doc file rejected?
The old .doc format is an entirely different binary format that browsers cannot read. Open the file in Word or a free alternative such as LibreOffice, choose Save as, pick Word Document (.docx), and bring that version back here.
My document came out empty — what happened?
When nothing readable is found, the tool says so rather than producing a blank PDF. That usually means the .docx holds only floating text boxes, a drawing canvas or images with no body text, or that the file is damaged. Copying the content into a fresh document and saving it again normally fixes it.
Can I choose a different page size or orientation?
Not at present. Every conversion is A4 portrait with standard margins, which covers most needs. If you require Letter size or landscape, export from Word itself, where the page setup is under your control.
Can I convert several documents at once?
One at a time. If they belong together, convert each of them and then join the results into a single file with Merge PDF.
